19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to force a final set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
